We had to better secure the property because of the recent break-in. We put up razor wire on the wall, added some more lights and installed a security system with lights and sirens. Now each guard and adult has a panic button on them in case of emergency they can set off the sirens and alert everyone within a mile that they need help (it’s very loud). Even with all of these improvements we know that God is our only true source of protection in Haiti and we trust Him. We are wrapping up completion of the kitchen. The structure itself is complete, the windows and doors are in along with the tile and bathroom. The stoves, refrigerators, freezers and other equipment have been purchased and are in place. The only missing piece is the kitchen sink which we are getting from the states, nothing is ever simple in Haiti. The dining room tables and chairs have been purchased and are on the way from Sam’s Club in Florida. The kitchen cabinets have been started and have been paid for. It’s always exciting to get them paid for, thank you Jesus. All this time the cooks have been cooking over a small open flame type stove which sits on the floor. What a blessing for us to finish this project.
The wall around The Church of Destiny is also nearing completion. The men are building it to be similar to the wall around the compound. Once the wall is completed we can start the church. |
